So spring just said; “forget y’all I’m not comin’, but I’m gone send my sis Summer”. Okay Then! I’ll take summer and all it’s beautifulness! But first lets get our makeup together!
Wearing makeup in warm climates can be a part time job in itself. Before you go picking makeup looks and what lashes will look best with it, lets talk foundation…
In the summer, your complexion will get much warmer than its ever been. Depending on how much you’re in the sun, your complexion can change more than a few times. When your complexion changes, your foundation will too.
The best foundation to wear in warmer climates is liquid. It doesn’t break down (separate or crack) as fast as cream foundations. Liquid is also recommended for people with oily skin because it isn’t emollient like creams. It also comes in a range of coverage and can be oil free. Concealer can also be purchased in liquid and still provide the coverage you need.
Of course you will still need to set your face with a setting powder to seal the deal.
Now that we’ve gotten that out the way, we can talk about quick, simple but stunning makeup looks you can achieve in this beaming heat!
1. A groomed brow is always a nice touch. Creating the perfect shape that compliments your facial features will quickly upgrade your look before you even begin to get into any other makeup. In the summer heat, filling in your brows is optional but always welcome 🙂
I recommend concentrating on the areas that are sparse or non existent. Sometimes when you use a heavy hand it can be very apparent when the temperature rises and you begin to glisten (ladies don’t sweat, we glisten dawling, even if it looks like we’re collecting buckets:)). It almost seems as if our body temperature rises, our eyebrows begin to look more like sharpie markers. I suggest using a brow powder.
2. Lashes! Lashes are so addictive but they can do so much for an eye shape. If you have great natural lashes already, pick a great mascara and get busy. I suggest “Better Than Sex” by Too Faced Cosmetics and “They’re Real” by Benefit Cosmetics.
If you choose to apply falsies, me too lol. Whispies are great and can look very natural and they can also look very dramatic too. Its your look, do what you want to do!
3. Shimmering blushes, bronzers, and highlighters were created for a time like this! Get your glow on. The sun is already shining, why cant you? There are so many trios now that you don’t have to purchase them all separately.
4. Lets get bold and dive right into some color. Bright bold lipsticks and glosses can make their way back to the front of the line. I love seeing all the shades of pinks and oranges. I also love seeing the unique shades and how they’re paired with an outfit.
Makeup is what you make it! Have fun with it and do what makes you happy. It’s not makeup that makes you beautiful, its you that makes you beautiful!
